An Aviation and Air Transport expert with more than twenty (20) years experience. Alva has had a deep interest in social justice and equity and his entire life has been committed and devoted to the public welfare. Hence, prior to elective politics, Alva was a youth leader, community and trade union activist and humanitarian.

As a youth leader Alva was one of the Saint Lucia National Youth Council’s (NYC) most eloquent and persistent voices in seeking recognition for the Council and was also the founding president of the Saint Lucia Labour Party Youth Organization (SLPYO).
Alva’s leadership experiences, combined with his political involvement, community and youth work, as well as trade union activities, have given him a clear and practical understanding of the needs and expectations of the electorate. In addition, Alva is substantial, conscientious, hard working and imbued with burning nationalism.

As its Second Deputy Political Leader, Alva brings to the Saint Lucia Labour Party, the human qualities that make him a respected public figure – eloquence, compassion, ability and sensitivity, not to mention commitment and resolve.

Alva has a passion for infrastructural development, transport, poverty alleviation and sustainable human development. As the Parliamentary Representative for the constituency of Laborie, he creates and executes initiatives geared towards a better constituency and more progressive people.

THE MISSION

  • To refocus Laborie’s development efforts on building a strong local economy and the encouragement of economic growth which benefits the people of Laborie as a whole. We will do this through support for national development targets and policies, which create sustainable livelihood for Laborians, promote human development and conserve the environment.
  • To put in place new ways of working with the local private and voluntary sectors, and the research community, towards the achievement of Laborie’s development targets.
  • To ensure that the full range of Government policies affecting Laborie’s development takes account of its sustainable development objective.
  • To use Laborie’s cultural and natural heritage as a tool for job creation, poverty alleviation and sustainable human development in this constituency.
